Cavallino Amazing Peninsula” is an amazing place surrounded by rare and precious landscapes

The Venetian lagoon with its salt marshes and ever-changing colours is on one side, and the Adriatic Sea with its Blue Flag-awarded waters and sandy beaches is on the other.

The name 'Cavallino' has its roots in the ancient Roman place name 'Equilium', meaning 'land of horses', where the animals of the Empire were bred. Evidence of this thousand-year history can still be seen in the charming village of Lio Piccolo, which preserves the traditions and atmosphere of times gone by.

This perfect mosaic area comprises pine forests, nature reserves, historic fortifications undergoing restoration — evidence of Venice's glorious past — well-tended vegetable gardens, and modern open-air accommodation facilities, all coexisting in perfect harmony.

The best way to experience it all? Take a relaxing bike ride along the numerous cycle paths that wind through the peninsula, offering views of the lagoon, agricultural landscapes and golden beaches.

    Ideal starting point

Cavallino-Treporti is also the ideal starting point for reaching Venice and the islands of the Northern Lagoon:

    • picturesque Burano, with its colourful houses and ancient art of lace-making,
    • Murano, famous throughout the world for its glasswork,
    • Torcello, quiet and charming, with its ancient cathedral, and many more.
